Tylertown
Tylertown, Mississippi
 
    Tylertown is located in Walthall County, in southwest Mississippi.  The county was named in honor of Edward C. Walthall, a confederate General and United States Senator.  Tylertown was named after William G Tyler, a Bostonian and artilleryman that served under General Andrew Jackson during the Creek Campaign and the War of 1812.

    Tylertown is located approximately 90 miles north of New Orleans, Louisiana.  The population of Walthall County is 14,352 and the city of Tylertown 1,938 residents.  The primary industry in this area is agriculture.  This city has been coined as the "Cream Pitcher of Mississippi".  Tylertown has the largest number of grade "A" dairies in the state.

    Many people enjoy this area because of the abundance of outdoor activities and mild climate.  Many of the activities commonly enjoyed by everybody in the area includes fishing, golfing, tennis, boating, swimming, and hunting.  The game of the local area is plentiful with deer, quail, dove, turkey, and other small animals.
