Our History and Mission

History of Walthall County General Hospital:

Walthall County General Hospital is a non-profit county hospital. The hospital first opened     on March 24, 1970 as a general acute care hospital providing medical care to the people of Walthall County and surrounding area. Walthall County Gerneral Hospital has responded to the changing health care needs of our community by expanding our role as a health care provider.  The hospital is a forty-nine (49) bed acute care facility that provides many health care services such as swing-bed skilled care, out-patient diagnostic services, out-patient cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, out-patient rehabilitation, a ten (10) bed in-patient and day treatment for geriatric psychiatric issues, and home care.

Our Mission:

The mission of the hospital shall be: To provide high quality services accessible and available to the residents of Walthall County and the surrounding area. Our goals begin with developing close communications with our community in order to maintain public confidence and to be responsive to the area's changing healthcare needs. Also, our aim is to maintain fiscal soundness in order to provide the facilities and equipment necessary to support healthcare programs consistent with good planning. This includes maintaining a high quality medical staff with specialties and numbers appropriate to community needs.  Our goal is also to provide a strong management team to implement and conduct policies and programs that support healthcare planning and shared services with other area health institutions.

The vision of Walthall County General Hospital:

In the years ahead Walthall County General Hospital will maintain its role as center of Walthall County region's healthcare delivery system, continuing efforts to establish an integrated provider network that offers a responsive continuum of care in accessible settings.
